Onyx Legion

The Onyx Legion stands as the first and last defense of the Court, a dark and unyielding force dedicated to protecting not only the Court itself but all its holdings from harm and threat. These warriors are the embodiment of the Duke's will and might, summoned to enforce his decisions and punish those who defy him. The Onyx Legion is led by the Onyx General, with the Onyx Warden serving as his second-in-command. Below them, the ranks of the Onyx Legion follow a strict hierarchy of power and duty:

The supreme commander of the Onyx Legion, the Onyx General is the Duke’s right hand in matters of military might and defense. Commanding unparalleled authority, they oversee all operations of the Legion and strategize the defense of the Court and its holdings. Their words are law on the battlefield, and their presence ensures that the Duke’s will is carried out without question. 

The Onyx Warden serves as the second-in-command, tasked with implementing the Onyx General's orders and ensuring the smooth operation of the Legion. A master tactician, the Warden commands the Legion in the absence of the General, overseeing the day-to-day affairs of the soldiers. They are the bridge between the high command and the rank-and-file, ensuring orders are executed efficiently and swiftly.

A seasoned and formidable warrior, the Onyx Knight has earned their position through both skill and loyalty. They are the elite fighters of the Legion, often called upon to lead smaller units or take on high-risk missions. Their prowess in battle is unmatched, and they are both respected and feared among their peers. 

The backbone of the Onyx Legion, Vindicators are highly trained soldiers skilled in a variety of combat styles. They are the disciplined warriors who carry out the majority of the Legion's work, whether it’s defending the Court’s gates or undertaking special missions. Their strength and resolve are vital to the Legion’s effectiveness. 

The Onyx Dreadblade holds a leadership role over a smaller group of Onyx Recruits and Squires.  Responsible for maintaining discipline, training, and ensuring their unit functions smoothly, Dreadblades are trusted leaders who act as the Legion's muscle in close combat. They are often the ones who make quick decisions in battle, relying on their experience and understanding of tactics. 

The rank-and-file soldiers of the Onyx Legion, Onyx Sentinels are trained in the basics of warfare. They form the core of the Legion’s infantry and are ready to engage in combat at a moment’s notice. While not as experienced as the higher ranks, Sentinels are driven by duty and a fierce loyalty to the Court. 

A recruit still in training, the Onyx Squires assists higher-ranked soldiers while learning the ways of the Onyx Legion. They are expected to prove their worth by demonstrating bravery, discipline, and a willingness to sacrifice for the greater good. Their primary role is to serve as apprentices to the higher ranks, gaining experience on the battlefield and in the art of war.
